Left becomes right, instantly

Mirror an Image Online

Add a JPG, PNG or WebP and it comes back reversed left-to-right, like a reflection — no buttons to hunt for, because the mirror is already switched on for every file you drop here. Check the preview, download, done. The work happens in your browser, so the photo is never sent anywhere.

Mirroring a picture in three steps

The horizontal mirror is pre-selected on this page, so there is even less to click than usual.

  1. Drop the picture in

Drag a JPG, PNG or WebP into the box, or click it to browse. Every file you add starts out mirrored left-to-right — that is the whole point of this page.

  2. Check the preview

The preview already shows the mirrored result. If the picture was a reversed selfie, any lettering in it should now read correctly. Need the other axis instead? The vertical button is right there.

  3. Download the mirrored copy

Press Download and the reversed picture lands on your device in the same format and resolution it came in. Your original file is not modified.

When a mirror image is the fix

Un-mirroring a selfie

Front cameras often save the shot the way you saw it in the preview — reversed. One mirror pass puts shirts, signs and tattoos back into readable orientation.

Iron-on transfers and stencils

Anything printed and then applied face-down comes out reversed. Mirror the design before printing and the transferred result reads correctly.

Matching a layout

A portrait facing off the edge of a page pulls the reader's eye out of the design. Mirror it so the subject faces inward — no reshoot needed.

Symmetry checks

Artists mirror a work-in-progress to reset their eye; lopsided proportions that the brain has learned to ignore jump out immediately in reverse.

Need the picture turned upside down instead? The flip vertically page pre-selects the other axis, and the full flip image tool starts with both axes off and lets you pick per file.

Mirror image questions, answered

How do I mirror an image online for free?
Add your picture above — it is mirrored the instant it loads, because this page presets the horizontal flip for you. Check the preview and press Download. There is no charge, no watermark and no account, and the file never leaves your browser.
What does mirroring an image actually do?
It reverses the picture along its vertical axis, so left becomes right — exactly what you see when you hold a photo up to a mirror. Every pixel keeps its row but swaps to the opposite column. Nothing is cropped, resized or recoloured.
Why does text in my selfie read backwards, and does this fix it?
Front cameras show you a mirrored preview because that is how you are used to seeing yourself, and many phones save the photo that way too. Any t-shirt print, sign or logo in the shot then reads right-to-left. Mirroring the saved photo once reverses it back, so the lettering reads normally again.
Is a mirror image the same as a flipped image?
Mirroring is one kind of flip — the horizontal kind. "Flip" also covers the vertical direction, which turns a picture upside down instead. This page presets the horizontal mirror because that is what nearly everyone searching for a mirror effect wants; the vertical option stays one click away.
Can I mirror an image for an iron-on transfer or stencil?
Yes — that is a classic use. Transfer paper prints come out reversed when ironed onto fabric, so you mirror the design first and it ends up the right way round on the shirt. The same trick applies to stencils, window decals viewed from the other side, and woodworking templates.
Does the mirrored copy lose quality?
The pixels are only rearranged, never resampled, so the dimensions stay identical. PNG output is lossless; JPG and WebP are re-encoded at a quality high enough that ordinary photos look identical to the source.
Is my photo uploaded when I mirror it here?
No. The mirroring runs in your own browser through the Canvas API — this site has no endpoint that could receive your picture. You can load the page, go offline, and it still works.
Can I mirror several photos at once?
Up to 30 in a batch. Each one arrives pre-mirrored; adjust any of them individually if needed, then use Download all to save the lot.

Mirrored on your device, not on a server

The reversal is a one-line canvas transform your browser performs locally — the page has no upload form and the site has no image endpoint. That also means there is no file size ceiling beyond what your device can open, and no queue of other people's pictures ahead of yours. The about page walks through the mechanics if you are curious.
